is the illustrator, designer and owner of The Small Object which was established in 2004. She was born in the Midwest and raised in the South, spending most of her childhood mapping out elaborate neighborhood monorail bicycle map systems, singing "It's a Small World" until her mother could take no more. After spending some time hopping from Brooklyn to Manhattan to Jersey City, she completed a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts and left the world of non-profit arts management to retreat back to the land of boiled peanuts + iced tea to start her own online business. Currently, The Small Object is a thriving online store that remains humbled by the consistent support for handmade objects and by those who continue to support independent designers.
Since 2009, Sarah has been working with Chronicle Books on an ever-growing collection of gift and paper products. The collection contains products from labels and stickers to notecards and activity sets. Her thumbprint activity sets are super fun and popular across all age groups. If you are interested in carrying any of these products in your own store, please contact Chronicle Books
directly. If you would like to supplement your collection of The Small Object products with her handmade line, please email Sarah
and she will forward along her wholesale information.

For television, there was the very surreal experience of once flying to LA to tape a few crafting segments for the television show, Uncommon Threads
, that was featured on HGTV and the DIY network. Her work was also featured on HGTV's "15 Fresh Handmade Gift Ideas" during the 2011 Holiday Season.
In the past, Sarah has lived up and down the East coast (Brooklyn, Jersey City, Savannah, Columbia) with a short stint outside of Chicago--but the South is deep in her core. Currently, she is happily living it up in Atlanta, GA with her wife, who works in an ICU, along with their three perfect cats--Chloe, Charlie and Oscar. Most recently, they adopted their very first dog Milton--a tripod chihuahua who was supposed to be a temporary foster but weaseled his way into their family, too. He is quite smart and is no fool. At this point, the shop continues to be run by just herself and is her full-time and only job and that's because of you. Thank you! You are amazing!
